Despite all these efforts Philip Morris in Philippines has failed to become leader in low-priced segment of cigarettes and have taken only second place after Fortune tobacco Corporation.

Beginning with 2010 the Company started to be called Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corp (PMFTC) and became the largest tobacco Company in Philippines, manufacturing 90% of tobacco products on the 12th biggest tobacco market in the world.
On December 20th 2012 Philippines President Benigno S. Aquino III has signed Sin Tax Reform Law that has increased prices on tobacco products and as result Marlboro cigarettes with their new price couldn't compete with low-priced brands to which population decided to switch in order to minimize their expenses.
Sin Tax Reform Law foresees increase of the excise tax on cigarettes from 29.1 % to 52.5 % in 2013 and 63 percent by 2017.
Adoption of this law has caused new complaints and new investigations that follow Philip Morris Company in Philippines during entire its history.
