Expensive cigarettes have frightened Israeli smokers
Sale of cigarettes in Israel have reduced for the last month approximately by 10 % due to another price increase of tobacco products (2.5-3 shekel for one cigarette pack) initiated by Ministry of Finance.
As economic edition Globes informs, for the last year and half government has initiated price increase on cigarettes three times and the price of one pack has increased by 5.5-6 shekels.
It is marked that some smokes haven't refused vicious habit but tried to substitute cigarettes with tobacco raw material that is used for roll-ups. The sale volume of tobacco raw material has grown insignificantly as compared to the beginning of May.
Total cigarette sales in Israel have made 7.1 billion shekel (319 million packs) last year. Each week Israelis have smoked more than 6 million cigarette packs. Let's remind that total amount of taxes when selling one pack of cigarettes in Israel makes 85 %.
