In Iraq want to prohibit smoking
Authorities will take from Iraqi one of several "joys".
Iraqi always, including period during Saddam Hussein's regime have been big fans to smoke. Cigarettes price of which is average 24 cents are sold in Baghdad everywhere, almost on every street corner. You can smoke everywhere as well: in buses, elevators, hospitals, and even in Parliament of the country.
However, Iraq, quite possibly, will be heaven for smokers not for long time. Parliament is already considering in second reading the law that prohibits smoking in public places: schools and universities, at work places and government institutions, in coffee shops and restaurants. Besides, will be prohibited street advertisement of cigarettes but tobacco Companies will be obliged to inform more on tobacco products clearly and easy to understand about harm of smoking.
Parliament have already tried to pass the law that restricts smoking a lot in 2009, however it had to refuse their intention. In April project has been introduced again for legislators' consideration.
From one side, in Iraq are far less smokers than in China, Russia and Eastern Europe in proportional ratio. From another side, taking into account that in this Arabic country only men smoke level, of smokers inter sterner half of mankind is quite high and allows beating the alarm. At least, on Middle East Iraq smokers are on one of first places.
